What is a Scissor Lift?

Scissor Lifts are a type of motorized manlift with a railed platform that can be raised straight up. They are often found in construction and facility maintenance settings, and are designed to raise and lower workers and their tools to a variety of heights ranging from 19 feet to 59 feet.

They are classified as a Mobile Elevating Work Platform (MEWP).

Scissor Lifts can be gas or electric powered and a scissor lift raise and lower by the closing or opening of crossed tubes that work like the two halves of a pair of scissors. They are used to gain access to hard-to-reach-places or to help raise or lower unit loads. Scissor Lifts provide a mobile means of reaching high areas.
